Several months ago i was doing a search for an assisted living facility for my brother. i did the search in several areas including a look at a local facility. It was going to depend on price, amenities, reviews. The truth is i kept coming back to the local facility in part because of the proximity to my husband and me.
One of the facilities further away from here advertised itself with the the words equity, inclusion and diversity. The price was high and the facility wasn't all that impressive.
That said, equity, inclusion and diversity were not the qualities i was looking for. All i wanted to know was how well they'd be looking out for my brother. Given the high price and the mediocre care there he did end up here, locally. They had a caring staff with Christian services. One for Catholics and one for Protestants Their ad was a verse from scipture. The reviews were excellent. People that knew the facility vouched for its good reputation.
Nothing about equity, inclusion, diversity in their advertisement.
It's a stupid idea. When people are looking at these facilities for their loved ones all they really want to know is that their family member will be safe, looked out for and comfortable for the price.
That's it. Nobody cares about helping some agenda.
Frankly,i was surprised. You mean to tell me this garbage has already permeated our institutions?
Who would think that? Be prepared. It's here.
My brother seems content. The staff has been very helpful. He's getting quality services.
i couldn't be happier, more relieved that we looked into it for him and settled on the place we started with. So far, no complaints.
Note: None of these places are cheap and they are NOT covered by your standard insurance plan or Medicare so make sure you will be getting the bang for your buck.
