It's Not An Issue(yet). It Will Be An Issue. Legalized Pot

Sooner or later legalizing pot is going to be an issue. It's been legalized in some states already and isn't the big deal it used to be.
I can see it getting legalized in more states down the road-and getting on the ballot in others. In some states the majority might oppose it but I'm not sure that's true at this point.
As harmless as people claim it is i totally oppose legalizing it. The old argument was that alcohol is legal and pot isn't as bad but it's illegal.
It's still an argument today but there's no logic in that. There's enough problems with legalized alcohol and pot would just add another one.
We know how prohibition went in our country. Not too well. I don't drink myself but am not for prohibition. It doesn't work.
We have laws that limit the negative impact of alcohol and if enforced they work. Of course, if you abuse and it's causing a problem for you and your family seek help
.
Talk to people whose lives have been destroyed by alcohol and/or drugs-i have a family member that went that route with alcohol.
The end result has been tragic. I can't say too much-i owe this person confidentiality. I can say that he had a very good life to start with-far better off than i have ever been. Now this person is homeless and institutionalized.
It should never have happened to this person. Said person could have had a nice retirement. I wish i could say how terrible it's been but i worry i would divulge too much.
As for pot, i used. The last 2 times i used it i went into a paranoid episode-maybe it was mixed with another drug or the THC was incredibly strong. After that i said never again.
You know what happens when you're stoned? You lose ambition. You don't care about doing anything. Stoned is the goal and you aint moving after that.
I wouldn't drive a car. It always had this weird affect on my perception of time. You're best bet is to sit at home and laugh at everything under the sun.
I won't lie.It beats anything else you might enjoy. If you're a young person why would you want to study or have a goal for yourself after graduation?
You probably won't have a goal for the day let alone your life.Wasted is a good word for it. Wasted as in wasted your day, wasted your life, wasted your money, wasted any good judgement you might have had.
Come on, be honest. It's not a good idea to use pot at all. I know that they've found some medicinal purposes for it. If you have a condition and your doctor thinks you would benefit, by all means-consider it.
[I know it goes by different names, weed, maryjane, cannibas, reefer etc but i prefer the old fashioned common use word, pot .Besides, it's short].
It's controlled and there isn't much chance for it being abused.
You can't tell me it's harmless outside of medicinal use.
Have proof?
I know our culture has made it acceptable and harmless. I definitely think they are trying to persuade young people to try or use.
I know they are trying to make it easier to get and use without repercussions from law enforcement. The argument for pot is that it's not a 'hard' drug.
All the illicit drugs you can think of are hard; they have different effects. Some are more apt to cause death ie fetanyal, heroin and cocaine etc.
Heroin is different than cocaine, meth is different than valium etc. They're all different including pot but there's no reason not to classify them all as hard drugs.
A difference in composition and effect doesn't make them any less harmful-an OD of any drug is an equalizer.
I imagine people will take issue with the idea and consider pot a softer or less harmful drug? I don't like the way it's being pushed. It's subtle but the messaging is clear. They're not even promoting its medicinal use.
We have plenty of problems to deal with in our country. Why add another? We should be focused on kids getting a decent education. Pot will really help kids learning ability.
Have you ever met a graduate who couldn't spell, write or read? Ever met these young adults who seem to have an aversion to work?
I mean actual physical labor where they might have to do something.
For the boomers; remember when they used to tell us to get 'high on life'?
This was a good argument not to use pot (or any drugs)? It kind of kills the message with get high.
That said, as we know, life has some hard lessons to learn from over the years. It has its ups and downs. It's good times-it's bad times and sometimes it can be tragic and trying.
It pays to be grounded. For those with a strong Christian faith you know Christ is your hope. Family is anchor people may count on. for My folks were married 60 plus years till the day they died.
Two things got them through. Their Catholic faith and their being there for each other.
What i couldn't get through my thick head i got from their example. You can go astray but if the good things are there you have the chance to come back.
I saw this video of Ozzy Osbourne and he was having his hair styled as i recall. He had this unmistakeable blank stare in his eyes. His face looked flat. No emotion or feeling at all. It's hard for me to describe. It just struck me as 'he's gone' for lack of a better way of putting it.
Whatever else someone may have thought that was i had one conclusion. Burned out. I know he overcame his addiction and abuse.
He deserves credit for winning that battle and thank God his wife gave him her support (as i'm sure many others did) but after years of abuse it has to take a toll you don't recover from.
I also think it was quite remarkable he died twice [from his atv acicdent ]and came back. Maybe it dawned on him that God gave him 2 extra chances to set his life straight and find a spark of faith before his final passing. How could you not believe in God after that?
Anyway,if you have a good argument for legalized pot please leave it in a comment. If you don't have one please don't feel pressured and vote for it anytime soon,ok? You do what you think is right in spite of everything our culture claims.
