Simple Title: Abortion

Younger people might find it strange and think of it as backwards but when i was growing up abortion wasn't legal and it wasn't an issue.

For that matter, there weren't a lot of babies born out of wedlock at the time either. The women that did get pregnant, got married.

The men felt responsible and wouldn't dream of hanging their girlfriend out to dry; plus there was a mind set of doing the 'right thing' back then and some cultural pressure to get married.

Abortion wouldn't be legalized until i had graduated from high school.

i honestly didn't think i'd live to see the day Roe V Wade was overturned. The issue went to the states where it should have been in the first place.

The reality is though that some states will vote to legalize it up to the moment of birth and remove a number of restrictions.

Other states will ban it, period, but most will restrict it with exceptions usually rape, incest and the life of the mother.

i have to admit when they were first debating the issue i was shocked there were women who wouldn't think twice about killing their own baby.

It was disturbing and had a lot to do with my becoming a conservative.I will always have a hard time wrapping my head around what an abortion does.

Ironically, i got pregnant at the same time abortion was legalized. It came down to 2 choices; adoption or raise the baby as a single mother.

Abortion was not even a thought. After it was legalized i noticed a rapid change in our culture. It didn't seem like people had the same respect for life [in general] they used to have. Divorces were common.Illegitimate births were skyrocketing too and the men weren't sticking around.

i can remember when abortion [illegal of course], divorce and unwed mothers were rare. You'd think it would be the other way around.

i can honestly recall only one girl in our whole high school who may have gotten pregnant. i have to say may because it could have been a rumor.

Here we are in 2023 and the issue of these elections today was abortion front and center. The Democrats had a great night. i wasn't surprised at all. They had a small blue wave but a wave nonetheless.

John Fetterman won in Pa during the mid terms solely on the issue of abortion. He wasn't the least bit qualified to be elected to Congress. Had it not been for the issue of abortion he might not have made it.

What to do at this point? Give it up. The Democrat position on abortion is extreme but they can paint the Republicans as being anti abortion and win.

I've come to the conclusion if women want to kill their babies there is no choice but to let them. They have to live with the consequences.

They will have to answer for themselves. It's probably time to stop the debate and live with the results.

Pro abortion advocates will likely gravitate to the blue states where they're open for business. Pro life people will likely gravitate towards the states with restrictions.

It may be time to take the issue off the table and let the voters decide for themselves. Fortunately we're free to vote with our feet too.

Have i thrown in the towel? i'm 100% pro life. This is never going to change. i don't think we have a choice but to face reality. People have become hardened. They don't see it as killing a baby.

They view it more as infringing on a woman's right-meaning a woman's right to kill her own baby [irrregardless of how they frame the narrative]. If we don't win elections our voice is hardly going to matter.

All we can do is change hearts and minds on a personal not a political level. On the other hand there is no reason to force the taxpayers to fund it. You vote for it without restrictions, in all fairness you should foot the bill.

There's enough funding from Planned Parenthood and similar groups plus the payment for services rendered to cover them. It's not as if there's a lack of funding.

Let women make the decision. If they keep the baby we can help out through the various agencies. We'd never let a woman fend for herself and her child.

If they choose an abortion that's their business as in don't cry to me if you end up having problems.

This is exactly where i'm at. You can only do so much.

i don't want to fight a losing battle.

Personally, i feel the left has gone as crazy as they can possibly get. Abortion is one issue of many where they're out of touch with reality.

I'm just not going to participate in their crazy.

They think men can be women and women can be men. They think our greatest danger is climate change when we have the threat of nuclear war and terrorism hanging over our heads.

They think they can spend their way out of an economic downturn caused by bad policies when it's going to cause a major economic collapse.

They think killing their young is beneficial and protecting human life is not.

Wait until they find out the kind of problems low birth rates cause; Europe learned the hard way.

If they think CRT and sexualizing children at a young age is ok, let them do it to THEIR kids. Pull your own kids out of those schools. Homeschool if you must.

They want to be a sanctuary city send the illegals there. Let them have what they asked for.

If high taxes and strict regulations are their cup of tea more power to them. Get out of that state and live in a state with policies that suit you.

Just hold onto the 2nd amendment. The crazy is going to get worse. Be prepared to protect yourself and your family.

BTW. I'm a woman and don't need [extra] nonsensical pronouns.

I'm going to vote for Pres Trump come hell or high water. Liberalism is not my religion. The state is not my god. CHOICE.
