Let's talk about Gov Ron DeSantis & i'm going to do my utmost to be objective. You have my word.
First of all he was a decent governor.
No 2 ways about it. He had several real accomplishments he has every right to be proud of. We remember the reason he had the opportunity to serve as the govenor. in the first place. It was the endorsement and support of Pres. Trump when Ron was down and out.
Trump asked the MAGA base to get behind DeSantis and we did. We believed he was MAGA. We put him in the Governor's mansion.We were always talking about him becoming Trump's VP pick.
He couldn't though because he and Trump are both from Florida. It was the idea that we thought that hiighly of him. I'm sure Trump would have found a spot for him if he wanted it.
We were always talking about electing him President in 2028 to carry on with the MAGA agenda. DeSantis was going to be the one to carry that torch.We'd have made sure of it.
We sincerely envisioned him seeking the nomination in 2028 after Trump's term of 4 yrs. We were ready to get him there when the time came. He would have been a shoe in; if only he had waited.
He just couldn't wait. Somebody got to him and he became the establishment's flavor of the month. They put Ron up to taking out Trump.
There it was-the betrayal. He betrayed Trump, he betrayed MAGA (the people that got him there)and the voters of Florida.
When we first supported him we were sure he was MAGA. When the Deep State went after Trump we believed the Governor would stand up for him.
The Republicans would end up in 2 groups. The group that stood with Trump. The group that would stab him in the back. We knew it would come down to one or the other. We were certain DeSantis would be on the Trump side.
He not only didn't stand with Trump. He kicked him to the curb; he kicked us to the curb.
It turned out as soon as Trump left office and was banned from social media DeSantis was going to use the gap to make a name for himself.
He had the platform. He had a co-operative legislature.The Deep State was focused on Trump; he didn't have that opposition either.
Finally, he revealed what he was probably planning all along. He was going to run against Trump even while he was running for a 2nd term as Governor.
He had his legislature change election law so he could run for President while he was Governor of Florida. The law would not permit him to do both. He took care of that.
The betrayal hit hard. When everyone caught on to what Ron was up to it was devastating.
MAGA is done with him.
Did the Governor really think that because things were tough for President Trump that we would jump ship and head his way?
Is this what prompted his poor judgement? They [Never Trumpers]whispered in his ear they would back him if he ran against Trump and that's all it took?
He called us 'listless vessels'. (He should look in the mirror).
What should Gov DeSantis do now? Suspend the campaign and make the most of the time he has a Governor. He could do the right thing and endorse Trump.
I'm not sure it would help him in 2028 but he still has the obligation to the people of Flordia to govern there since he ran for that office. He should spend a little less time in the other states; get back to his own state. He owes it to the voters of Florida. Does he have no loyalty to anyone?
