Violence

To be clear my journey to conservatism began in the 70's. i think that's when the seed was planted-it would be awhile before i became totally committed to conservatism and aware of the values enshrined in our Constitution.

This may seem puzzling to some people but the reason that first got me thinking abput my own values was the legalization of abortion.

As liberal as i was i couldn't wrap my head around that one. Keep in mind i'm a boomer and a young adult when the debate over legalizing abortion was a big deal.

I've heard all the pro abortion arguments there are and none of them can ever top ONE fact: abortion takes a human life and once that's out the window anything else is possible. i'm convinced it's a slippery slop all the way down.

Here we are today talking about an attempt assassination attempt on our President and another attempt that took the life of a young man, 31, who was a husband and father to 2 children.

i believe all of us are capable of violent acts.

What separates people are those who have no brakes and those who do. All of us experience anger. It's part of our human condition-we have a range of emotions and probably different levels of intensity.

i know that i can stop myself from doing whatever i FEEL like doing-self control is the key.

This means i put the brakes on certain types of behavior when i'm angry whether that anger is justifiable or not.

There are other people who handle their anger either better or worse than i do. We also know that people sometimes act differently-even against their own values-when they are in a mob and the mob rules..

This calls for really having the brakes on. Our values have to be so entrenched that no matter the circumstances-even in a mob-we put the brakes on.

People that have little to no self control don't put the brakes on.

I think having self control at all has to do with our upbringing, our culture, our early influences. We're not talking about actual violent acts here or even violent thoughts. We're now talking about the idea of self control.

IMHO the most dangerous organized group today in our own country is Antifa. The title anti facist is cover.

They are violent anarchists. You can't tell me their end goal isn't destruction.

It's diabolical.

i've never seen a period in my life time where the culture has been more violent than now; from entertainment [games.movies, music]to politics

i'm no expert though. There are plenty of doctors and scientists such a psychologists psychiatrists who study the topic. All i have to say about violence is speculation and observation along with personal experience. i may even be stating the obvious.

Conclusion; Houston we have a problem.
